For those women interested in business networking I will be talking at the Working Women’s Network on February 3rd.
I have teamed up with 2 other very inspiring business women, Angela Vithoulkas and Julia Bickerstaff. Together we form “The Business View” – we discuss topical business issues and each discuss and share our own experiences and knowledge on these topics.
I love networking with other business women, I never fail to learn something new or take some valuable idea away from every function I go to. I have attended the Working Women’s Network previously and have really enjoyed the experience, it is a great women’s business group.
The talk is on this coming Wednesday 3rd February. Tickets are available at the Working Women’s Network.
On the search for environmentally friendly gifts

Each year I like to find something special yet practical for the great staff that work for me at babybuds. Being in the gift industry lots of products cross my desk and it is often hard to find just the right gift for the girls (and 1 bloke, but don’t worry about him, he is spoilt by all the women).
I am a very practical person so I like all of the gifts I give to not only by stylish and have a “wow” factor but also I like them to be a practical item that a person can appreciate and use. In keeping with our development of our green policies this year it was also important that the gift I gave the staff was consistent with our movement forward to make babybuds more environmentally friendly. I was thrilled this year to find these great water bottles. I keep reading more and more research about the leaking of chemicals from plastic bottles which concerns me. These bottles can easily be refilled, maintain the cool water temperate and you don’t have to worry about them in the heat leaking any chemicals. They came in a great range of colours and designs, something a little more stylish than the average block colour. The staff seemed to love them and I got an extra few for myself, they are a great idea to leave in the car, in the office etc to make sure we get that extra water into our bodies each day. These ones are from a company called Wild & Wolf. |

Each year we donate Christmas Gift Hampers to the Exodus Foundation based in Sydney. We are very fortunate to have great suppliers like Kate Finn and Vandoros who donate stock each year to help us make up our hampers. Our staff also bring in lots of baby items like wipes, nappies etc and babybuds also donate lots of baby clothes and toys to make up these hampers. If any of our customers would like to donate items to the Exodus Foundation Christmas Hampers feel free to drop them into our warehouse at 71 Dickson Ave, Artarmon before Friday 11th December and we will include these items in our boxes. Have been having a wonderful time in New Zealand visiting our Auckland office. Here is a photo of Jeni and Sharon, it was great to spend time with them and hear about how things are going in New Zealand and the different types of products that are popular and sell well in New Zealand. We also spent time planning for the coming year, comparing marketing activities and discussing future strategy and product development. |
One of our best sellers in New Zealand is the Buzzy Bee, it doesn’t mean anything to Australians but from what I understand every New Zealand baby receives a traditional Buzzy Bee toy. Soccer is not very popular in New Zealand but everyone knows rugby is huge so our baby All Blacks gift packs are a big seller as well.
Can’t wait to get back to Auckland, need to think of an excuse to get back there soon. The 2 offices get together every January for our Annual business planning day – see you then Jeni.
E noho ra!
